South Branch Pond in Baxter State Park

I spent three days camping at South Branch Pond campground in the northern part of Baxter State Park in Maine, from August 23 to 25. I was sitting down by the pond as it started to get dark on my first night, when the sun came through the clouds low on the horizon over by the outlet stream and illuminated the mountains to the east with an amazing yellow light.

Martin, it’s great to hear from you! How has your summer been? I have been in regular correspondence with Bob exchanging political ideas and predictions for this coming fall! I am sorry we didn’t make it up this summer, but I am going to make a great effort to get up to Maine next summer even if it’s just my self, so I can climb that mountain! I’m glad to see the blog is back up and running!

I hope you are able to get a few more hikes in before the snow shoes have to come out!
