Morse Mountain and Seawall Beach

This afternoon I hiked into Seawall Beach, over Morse Mountain, in Phippsburg. From the top of Morse Mountain I could see the snow covered range of the Presidential Mountains in New Hampshire. I could see the Morse River which flows through the estuary into the ocean in its winding path. Jack Pine line the trail into the beach. Large masses of granite go down to the beach at the end of the trail. The Bates-Morse Mountain Conservation Area is a nature preserve managed by Bates College for environmental research and education.

  1. You show Maine to be the very special place it is, Martin. Even in Winter it’s stunning, and you’re out there enjoying it while most of the rest of us are huddled around our wood stoves.
